Student loan debt is uniquely terrifying because, unlike most other kinds of debt, it cannot be discharged in bankruptcy.

Recently, a judge in Baltimore has discharged–get this–nearly $340,000 in debt for one student because she has Asperger’s Syndrome, and therefore has trouble holding down a job.
